Your data and Pinpoint generative AI features
This notice and our Privacy Policy describe how Google handles your Pinpoint data. Please read them carefully.
Google collects your Pinpoint product usage information, your location, and your feedback, such as in-product feedback and inputs. Google uses this data, consistent with our Privacy Policy, to provide, improve, and develop Google products and services across Google, including machine learning technologies.
To help with quality and improve our products, Google human reviewers may read, annotate and process a sample of your Pinpoint data, including your prompts and thumbs up or down feedback. We take steps to protect your privacy as part of these processes. This includes disconnecting your interactions with Pinpoint from your Google Account by default before reviewers see or annotate them. Don’t include information that can be used to identify you, such as phone numbers, email addresses, or birth dates when using Pinpoint’s generative AI features.

The features of Pinpoint generative AI may display inaccurate information, including information about people. Responses do not represent Google’s views.

Tip: We’ll gradually expand to more countries and support more languages - check this page for the latest updates. Users located outside supported countries may request early access. We will review applications as we expand the list of supported countries.
Research your collection with generative AI
In the right-hand panel of a collection, you can ask research questions and receive AI-powered answers. Scroll in the panel to find:
- A text bar: Where you can enter questions about the document.
- A question log: A record of your questions and answers from the current session.
- Pinpoint doesn’t currently support a conversational research mode. Each question is independent of previous questions and answers.
Show sources for generated answers
To quickly check which parts of an answer match a source in the collection, above the text bar, turn on Show sources . To display the section of the text that matches the source document and navigate to it, click part of the answer.
Tip: You can turn off Show sources any time.
Copy generated answers
Below the generated answer, click Copy 
Give feedback on generated answers
If you get an inaccurate or unsafe answer, you can submit feedback:
Below the generated answer, click Like or Dislike
- To give detailed feedback, at the top right, click Give us feedback. Fill out the feedback form and attach a screenshot.
Important: If you see content on Pinpoint that you believe violates your copyright, please send a notice of the infringement to dmca-agent@google.com. For all other content that you believe violates the law or your rights, let us know at pinpoint-support@google.com.
Research your documents using generative AI
About researching your document
In the right panel of a document, you can ask research questions and receive AI powered answers. The panel is scrollable and contains the following components:
- Overview: Gives a summary of the document.
- Suggested questions: Select one to start a conversation.
- Question log: Shows a record of the questions and answers from the current session.

Please note that Pinpoint currently does not support a conversational research mode - each question is independent of previous questions and answers.

- Text bar: The space where users can enter questions about the document.
Show sources of generated answers
Above the text bar, toggle on Show sources to quickly check which parts of an answer is based on which parts of the document. The feature allows you to click on a part of the generated answer and see the corresponding source part within the document highlighted in the same color.
Tip: You can toggle off the feature anytime.
Copy generated answers
Below the generated answer, to copy a generated answer, click Copy
Give feedback on generated answers
Your feedback can help improve the AI-assisted feature. If you get an inaccurate or unsafe answer, you can let us know when you submit a feedback:
- To provide quick feedback on the quality and accuracy of the answers, below the generated answer, click Like
or Dislike
.
- If you'd like to give detailed feedback, at the top right, click Give us feedback.
- Optional: Fill out the feedback form and attach a screenshot.
