Your data and Pinpoint generative AI features
This notice and our Privacy Policy describe how Google handles your Pinpoint data. Please read them carefully.
Google collects your Pinpoint product usage information, your location, and your feedback, such as in-product feedback, inputs and edits. Google uses this data, consistent with our Privacy Policy, to provide, improve, and develop Google products and services across Google, including machine learning technologies.
To help with quality and improve our products, Google human reviewers may read, annotate and process a sample of your Pinpoint data, including your prompts. We take steps to protect your privacy as part of these processes. This includes disconnecting your interactions with Pinpoint from your Google Account by default before reviewers see or annotate them. Don’t include information that can be used to identify you, such as phone numbers, email addresses, or birth dates when using Pinpoint’s generative AI features.
Generative AI features are experimental
The features of Pinpoint generative AI may display inaccurate information, including information about people. Responses do not represent Google’s views.
Research your collection with generative AI
Important: If your collections are inactive for more than 4 months, generative AI resources become limited. Some Gemini features, like "Find Answer" over large contexts, can be unavailable. If you encounter a "Limited processing resources" error, you can re-upload the documents into a new collection to restores full functionality.
In the right-hand panel of a collection, you can ask research questions and receive AI-powered answers. Scroll in the panel to find:
- A text bar: Where you can enter questions about the collection or a subset of documents within it.
- A question log: A record of your questions and answers from the current session.
- Pinpoint doesn’t currently support a conversational dialog. Each question is independent of previous questions and answers.
- Action buttons: These buttons support specific research use cases.
- Summarize: Choose one or more documents, or default to the entire collection, and enter an optional topic to focus the summary on.
- Compare: Choose up to three documents and enter an optional topic to focus the comparison on.
- Classify documents: Select up to 100 documents, provide Pinpoint up to 5 classification criterias, and match labels. Pinpoint applies these criterias on the eligible documents.
- Extract data: To receive a CSV output, select up to 100 documents and provide Pinpoint with up to 5 values or questions to extract from each document.
