Problem with places in Picasa for Windows

Hi, I am having a major problem with the places panel in Picasa at the moment. Basically, it seems to work for a minute and then I can no longer drag the map (the only way to move around is to zoom in and out) and I can't drag the green/red placeholder thing, and if I try to add a new place, it just plonks it in the top left corner, and if I try to move it, the map just scrolls forever upwards. I've tried reinstalling but to no avail. What can I do to fix this?

I'm now worried, having only just heard the news of Picasa's retirement when looking for an answer, that any future problems will not be fixable as and when they arise. Will I need to find a new piece of software that can tag, geotag, face tag, caption, crop, straighten, enhance, etc, my images without having to upload them to the internet first? It's the most perfect piece of software I've ever had and I can't imagine that anything will come close.

Thanks,
Peter

The same problem. But instead of map scrolling I get something like "division by zero" error. The message pops when I drag mouse over the map and the only way to set landmarks is to "Search" for a place

Are you sure you are using the latest (final) version of the software?

Hello, I have the exact same problem, can't drag the map. Can zoom in and out however. The markers are correctly displayed, but any addition of a marker to a photo is not possible. The new marker in green will stay stuck near its button.

I am experiencing the same issue trying to geotag my photos.  Same across multiple platforms under Win10, Win8.1.  Any tips to fix or work around this problem is appreciated. This problem seem to occur around the time of the Picasa retirement announcement.  Need a fix, or an alternative.  I cannot find any similar geotag function in Google Photo.

Okay...seems that the map in Picasa is broken.
No wonder... :-(

I downloaded Geosetter to tag my photos.

I just tried geotagging using Picasa 3.9.141 build 259 for Windows and it worked.

Yes it's exactly as Mathieu Delmas describes. It's still not working and is very frustrating. I have been using Geosetter in the meantime (I already had that software) but it's not as easy as using Picasa!

The map seems to be working now for me, but for how long?

The answer was less than 5 hours... it's back to not working now. What was different?

Thank you so much Bruno L. It really worked like magic. I was suffering from more than one year. I am so thankful to you. :)
