Install Picasa

To install Picasa, make sure your computer meets the system requirements:

Windows:

  • Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7
  • 100 MB available hard disk space
  • 256 MB RAM
  • 1024x768 screen resolution or higher
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or newer

Mac

  • Intel Mac OS X 10.5 or newer
  • 100 MB available hard disk space
  • 256 MB RAM
  • 1024x768 screen resolution or higher

To download and install Picasa:

Windows
  1. Download Picasa for Windows.
  2. Double-click the .exe file.
  3. In the prompt for terms of agreement, click I agree.
  4. In the Picasa Setup dialog, choose a location on your computer to save the application, then click Install.
  5. To complete installation, click Finish.
  6. When Picasa launches, set the folders for Picasa to scan and display photos.
Mac
  1. Download Picasa for Mac.
  2. On your desktop, double-click the Picasa disk image.
  3. Drag the Picasa icon to Applications.
  4. Drag the mounted drive and the "picasamac.dmg" disk image to Trash.
  5. From Applications, open Picasa.
  6. When Picasa launches, set the folders for Picasa to scan and display photos.

Change Picasa settings

To set up language, upload size, email, and other settings in Picasa, click Tools > Options (Windows) or Picasa > Preferences (Mac).
