Authorization key

An authorization key is a combination of letters and numbers added to the end of a Picasa Web Albums URL to make it very difficult to guess. It looks like this: authkey=Gv1sRgCJXe0peKhqaO8QE#. Authorization keys are appended to URLs for albums set to a visibility of 'Limited, anyone with the link' and also to the URL fo your unlisted gallery. Only visitors with the exact web address will be able to see these photos.

You can manually generate a new authorization key at any time. A new key is useful if more people than intended are accessing this URL.

Reset your unlisted gallery secret key

  1. Click the gear gear icon icon in the top-right corner and choose Photos settings.
  2. Select the General tab.
  3. In the 'Your unlisted gallery URL' section, click Reset unlisted gallery secret key.
  4. Click OK.

Reset your album secret key

  1. Click in to an album.
  2. Click Link to this album on the right-hand side.
  3. Click Reset secret link.
  4. Click OK.

Please note that making changes to your album name or your gallery URL will automatically generate a new authorization key.
