General posting issues on Blogger

In a nutshell

  • Check the Blogger Status page to see if any Blogger known issues may be causing the problem.
  • If no issues have been reported on that page, you may be able to resolve the problem by disabling backlinks and/or clearing your cache and cookies.

If you've checked the Blogger Status page and no development issues, upgrades, or outages are listed, please use the troubleshooter below to resolve the problem.

Step 1: Disable your blog's backlinks

  1. Log in to http://www.blogger.com with your Google Accounts username and password.
  2. Right-click the Settings tab.
  3. Click the Comments link.
  4. Select the 'Hide' option for 'Backlinks.'.
  5. Select New Posts Do Not Have Backlinks in the 'Default for Posts' drop-down menu.
  6. Click the Save Settings button.
  7. Restart Picasa.

If you're still having difficulties posting, please try using another browser to disable backlinks.

Step 2: Clear your browser's cache and cookies

Step 3: Verify your picture's file name is properly formatted

Make sure your picture's file name doesn't contain any spaces or non-alphanumeric characters.

Step 4: Change your proxy settings

Click a link below for the browser you're using to get specific instructions.

Internet Explorer 7

  1. Click the Tools menu.
  2. Select Internet Options.
  3. Click the Connections tab.
  4. Click the LAN Settings button.
  5. Deselect the 'Automatically detect settings' checkbox.
  6. Click the OK buttons to save your setting.

Mozilla Firefox 3

  1. Click the Tools menu.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. Click the Network tab.
  5. Click the Settings button.
  6. If the 'Auto-detect proxy settings for this network' is selected, try selecting the 'No proxy' option instead. Vice versa, if the 'No proxy' option is selected, select the 'Auto-detect proxy settings for this network' option.
  7. Click the OK buttons to save your setting.
  8. Please restart your computer and try posting to your blog.

Try disabling any anti-virus and firewall applications you may have installed.
