Hiding and unhiding folders

You can choose to hide and password protect entire folders from view in the Picasa Library. This doesn't affect the ability to view the photos on your hard drive. Below you'll find instructions on how to hide and unhide folders in Picasa:

Hide folders

  1. In the Folder List, select the folder that you'd like to hide.
  2. Click the Folder menu.
  3. Select Hide.

All folders you hide will only be available in the Hidden Folders collection, located at the bottom of your Folder List when using the 'Flat folder view'. If you haven't created a password for the 'Hidden Folders' collection, you will be prompted to do so.

There is no way to recover forgotten passwords, but you can always clear your existing password.

Unhide folders

  1. Set your view to the flat folder view. The 'Hidden Folders' collection is only visible in this view.
  2. Click the 'Hidden Folders' collection in your folder list. Note that you'll only have a 'Hidden Folders' collection if you've chosen to hide a folder in Picasa.
  3. When prompted, enter your password.
  4. Click OK.
  5. In the Hidden Folders collection, select the folder that you'd like to unhide.
  6. Click the Folder menu.
  7. Click Unhide.

You can also right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac) the hidden folder and select Unhide from the menu. After unhiding a folder, you can access it in its original location on the Folder List.
