every time i have to use google photos to manage my photos during editing (snapseed), it's just a complete mess and i can NEVER find my photos. when you save the photos, there are no options for renaming or what folder you want to save in. Why? 1 Recommended Answer 22 Replies82 Upvotes

i can never find my photos after i edit them. i'm using a pixel 2 and the process of taking a photo, to reviewing them, to editing always leads them to be put back into google photos in THE MOST DIFFICULT MANNER TO FIND AND ORGANIZE. don't you guys make snapseed too? why is it SO DANG HARD to edit on snap seed and have it saved in a sane way back into my google photos. i don't even get an option as to name the new edited photo or of where i want it to end up.
Yes, Snapseed is a Google product. When you edit a picture with Snapseed, the date & time and other metadata should be preserved (unlike many other photo editing apps). So, the Snapseed picture should appear in your Google Photos timeline right alongside the original. Also, you'll be able to find that edited version in the Snapseed folder on your device.
If you're not seeing the Snapseed edited photos in Google Photos like you should, it could be because the Snapseed folder hasn't been selected for backup. To check/fix this, open the sidebar menu on the left in the Google Photos app and tap Device Folders. This will show you all of the folders on your phone that contain pictures.
Look through the thumbnail icons until you find the one labeled Snapseed. Tap it to view the pictures in that folder. At the top of the folder screen, you'll see a grayish bar that says "Back up & sync" with a toggle icon on the right. Tap on the toggle icon to turn it "on" (it will turn blue) and from that point forward any pictures that get saved to that folder will be included in the automatic backup. This will result in the behavior that I described above, where your Snapseed pictures will appear alongside the original in the Photos timeline.

Naming? Renaming? Why have you ignored this part of the poster's questions?
And not just for SnapSeed. Why does Google Photos for Android not support renaming? Is this a deliberate design policy, or an oversight for which nobody now wants to admit responsibility?

this is so frustrating, google is makes so many things right and then miserably fails on some most basic things. like, I have Snapseed folder on my phone and it is set for backing up, BUT backup does not sync with my google photos online. So there is no way for me to find my snapseed or instagram or any other phone folder online? If you can't sync folders (which is crazy on its own), why at least can't you place a tag in exif (at least for its own apps such as snapseed) so that users can find that photos by performing search???

Same problem here. When I use Snapseed to edit a photo from an earlier date, (last year, for example) the edited photo Ends up at the beginning of my Google photos roll after syncing-- as if it is a new photo. It's so frustrating.
