I am using an Samsung Note 8. I have taken some photos using some other apps such as Canonapp. These photos are not stored in the DCIM directory. Instead, they are stored under the canonapp directory.
However, the Google photo App (GP) doesn't find the pictures taken by this app. Is it possible to configure the google photo to upload these photos.

You can also go to the Albums tab, find the folder these photos are in and open it. There will be a toggle to turn on sync at the top

Thank everyone for your reply. I have tried to use the "device folder" to find the directory that I would like to backup. However, I can't find the directory (I can find some directories include "picture", "download", "image", not the one I would like to backup). I guess Google photo doesn't automatically search all directories and hence, it doesn't know there are pictures under other directories. How can I add other directories?

Most likely this folder is a subfolder of one of those other folders that Google Photos does see. I would recommend finding one of the images and checking the full path to see if a higher level folder does show up.

I have tried your suggestion, and a higher level folder doesn't show up. Are there other possible solutions?
