Label your face group

When you label your face group as 'Me', you:

  • Receive more personalised creations. For example, a movie that contains photos of you.
  • Receive personalised search. You can search 'Me' to find photos of yourself easily.
  • Allow your contacts to receive suggestions to share with you. When your contacts take photos of you, they'll receive a suggestion to share with you any photos that they have of you.

Note: This feature is not available in all countries. If it is available in your country, turn on the feature to use it.

Confirm your face group and allow your contacts to receive suggestions to share photos with you

If you select your 'Me' face label, you allow the Google Photos app on your contacts' devices to recognise your face. Then, Google Photos can send them suggestions to share with you any photos that they have of you.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Photos app Photos.
  2. Tap Menu Menuand then Settings and then Group similar faces.
  3. If you haven’t already done so, turn on Face grouping.
  4. Under 'No face labelled as me', tap Choose.
  5. Select your face. Tap OK. This will automatically turn on 'Allow contacts to recognise your face'.

Who can receive suggestions to share photos with you

  • Contacts that you’ve interacted with in Google Photos or Gmail may receive a suggestion to share with you any photos that they have of you.
  • If you interact with new contacts via Google Photos shared albums or Gmail, these new contacts may receive a suggestion to share photos with you.
  • If you delete shared albums or emails with some contacts, they may no longer receive suggestions to share with you.

To check which contacts can currently receive suggestions, go to photos.google.com/settings/contacts.

If you don’t want someone to receive suggestions, you can block them. Learn how to block someone.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Photos app Photos.
  2. Tap Menu Menuand thenSettings and then Group similar faces.
  3. Turn off Allow contacts to recognise your face.
