Create & edit stories

Get your best photos and videos arranged in a visual story to show the highlights of your trip or event. You might also get a story created for you automatically, but you can choose whether to save it.

Make a story

You'll need to use a mobile device to create a story.

  1. Open the Google Photos app on a phone or tablet .
  2. At the top right, touch the create icon > Story.
  3. Select all the photos and videos you want to include.
  4. At the top right, touch CREATE.

View your story later by opening the main menu > Collections.

Edit a story

Add photos or videos

Android or iOS app

  1. Open the Google Photos app .
  2. Open the story you want to update.
  3. Touch the white background > add icon .
  4. Choose moments to include.
  5. At the top right, touch the checkmark .

Computer

  1. Go to your collections and open the story you want to add to.
  2. At the top right, click the add icon .
  3. Choose moments to include.
  4. At the bottom left, click Done.
Remove a photo or location

Android or iOS app

Touch and hold the photo or location > Hide moment.

Computer

Place your cursor over the photo or location and click Remove.

Change a location
  1. To the right of the location name, touch or click the drop-down arrow.
  2. Select the correct location. If you don't see it, you can remove the location.
Change the cover photo

Android or iOS app

  1. Open the story you want to change.
  2. Touch the photo you want as the cover photo.
  3. At the top right, touch the options icon.
  4. Touch Set as cover photo.

Computer

Open the story you want to change, then, at the bottom left, click Change cover photo.

Delete a story

This will remove the story from your account, but it won't delete the photos.

Android or iOS app
  1. Open the Google Photos app .
  2. At the top left, touch the menu icon > Collections.
  3. Open the story you want to delete.
  4. At the top right, touch the options iconDelete.
Computer
  1. Go to your collections.
  2. Click the story you want to delete.
  3. At the top right, click the options icon> Delete.
