Edit photos

Add filters, crop photos, and more on your mobile device or computer.

Tip: If you have back up & sync turned on, your edits will sync to your Google Photos library.

Adjust, crop, or rotate a photo

  1. Open the Google Photos app Photos.
  2. Open the photo you want to edit.
  3. Tap Edit Edit.
    • To add or adjust a filter, tap Photo filters Photo filters. Tap to apply a filter, tap again to adjust. 
    • To manually change lighting, color, or add effects, tap Basic adjustments Basic adjustments. For more options, tap the arrow Down Arrow
    • To crop or rotate, tap Crop & rotate Crop & rotate.
    Tip: While you're editing, you can touch and hold the photo to compare your edits to the original.
  4. At the bottom right, tap Done Done.
  5. At the top right, tap SAVE.

Your edits will be applied to the photo, but you can undo them at any time.

Change date & time stamps

To change a photo or video's date and time stamps, open photos.google.com, and tap Computer above to follow the steps. 

Undo edits

  1. Open the Google Photos app Photos.
  2. Open the photo with edits you want to remove.
  3. Tap Edit Edit.
  4. Tap More More and then Undo edits.
