How do I get rid of an 'arrow' when making a phone call?
I'm worried that it could be some kind of malware, but firstly I want to run out of options before I make a factory reset.

I did find a similar post. The user seems to think it started happening in v87 of the Google Phone app. They state that downgrading to v86 removes the arrow. Can you confirm this behavior?

Hi Perwell,
You are correct. You'd need to uninstall updates, and then sideload the older version. Hopefully the next update will fix it. Please let me know if it does. Otherwise, I will escalate this to the development team to investigate.
If it needs to be escalated, I will then be asking you some basic information about the phone, as well as for a bug report, and a screen recording of the issue. Hopefully it doesn't come to that, but wanted to let you know I'm willing to escalate, if you would like to provide that info. I think v88 should be released soon. It's already in the beta channel.
You could sign up for beta releases in the Play Store, if you'd like to be on the cutting edge.

Hi and welcome to the Phone app Help Community. 👋
I just need to take a few details from you which will help me to help you. What country are you using the Google Phone Dialer in? Did you download the Google Phone Dialer from the Play Store or was it pre installed on your handset?
Other questions I have are as follows What's your phone's make and model? (Please excuse this if you've said it above.) What version of the Phone by Google application are you using? What version of Android is your phone running? What is your Android Security Update?
Please don't say it's the latest one or it's all up to date as that doesn't help me in the slightest.
Thanks for your question.

Hi Perwell, welcome to the Google Phone app community forum!
I'm just a bit confused, in the subject line you said:
How do I get rid of an 'arrow' when making a phone call?
However, in the body of your post you said:
It only happens when I receive the call, not the other way.
My confusion is does the arrow appear when you are making a call, or receiving a call?
I have a Pixel 6 on Android 13, and a Pixel 6 Pro on Android 11. I tried both placing and receiving calls on both phones, and was not able to duplicate what you are seeing.
I'm going to look through the forum to see if anyone else has posted something similar.

From the suggested post, it seems like it actually could be a software bug. I'll inform you if it gets resolved with an update. I don't think I can downgrade without sideloading the app, or am I wrong? If you have any further suggestions, I'll gladly read them.
