Manage call history & do a reverse phone number look up

You can see a list of calls you’ve made, answered, or missed. And you can delete calls from that list.

Important: Some of these steps only work on Android 6.0 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.

See your call history

  1. Open your device's Phone app .
  2. Tap Recents .
  3. You’ll see one or more of these icons next to each call in your list:
    • Missed calls (incoming) missed call
    • Calls you answered (incoming) incoming call
    • Calls you made (outgoing) outgoing call

See call details

To learn more about a call in your history, tap the call and then Call details.

You’ll see details for each call made to that number, like when it happened, how long it was, and whether it was incoming or outgoing.

Add numbers to your contacts

To add a number to your contacts from your call history, tap the call and then Add to contact or Create new contact.

Delete calls from your history

Important: Learn how to use the Phone app to record calls.

Delete a call from your history
  1. Open your device's Phone app .
  2. Tap Recents .
  3. Tap a number or contact.
  4. Tap Call details.
  5. At the top, tap Trash Delete .
Delete your entire call history
  1. Open your device's Phone app .
  2. Tap Recents .
  3. Tap More More and then Call History.
  4. Tap More More and then Clear call history.
  5. When asked if you want to delete your call history, tap Ok.

Reverse phone number look up

When you receive a call from an unknown number, you can look up the phone number on your Phone app. To check the caller:

  1. Open your device's Phone app .
  2. Tap Recents and then unknown number.
  3. At the bottom, tap Lookup .
    • This opens your default search engine with the phone number prefilled in the search box.

Tip: To help decide if you would like to return the call or not, check the search results.
