Claim, request, or withdraw money

You can use Google Pay to receive or request money from friends and family. If you have money stored in Google Pay you can transfer it to a bank account. There are no fees to use your Google Pay.

If you’re having problems completing a transaction, here is a list of likely reasons.

Claim money

When someone sends you money through Google Pay, you'll get an email or text message from Google with instructions on how to claim the money.

To claim money:

  1. In the notification email, click Claim money and check that it opens
  2. The next time you get money, open the Google Pay Send app or sign in to to view your transaction.
    • If you’ve set a default payment method, any money you receive will go directly to it.

Request money

You can request the same amount of money from up to 5 people at a time. 

Note: You can make up to 20 requests in 30 days. If you see the message "Too many requests," you've reached the limit. Try again in a few days or cancel an open request.

  1. Go to
  2. On the left, click Send or request.
  3. Tap Request money. 
  4. Click $0 and enter the amount you want to request.
  5. Enter the recipients' names, email addresses, or phone numbers. You can also add a memo.
  6. Click Request.

Cancel a request or send a reminder

  1. Go to
  2. On the left, click Transactions.
  3. Under "Incomplete," click a request.
  4. Click Cancel request or Send reminder.

Withdraw money

Note: Money you receive automatically transfers to your default payment method. If you haven’t chosen a default payment method, it goes to your Google Pay balance.

You can transfer money from your Google Pay balance to your linked bank account or debit card for free. Transfers to a debit card typically complete within minutes but may take up to 24 hours for some banks. Transfers to a bank account are usually done within 3 business days.

To withdraw money from your Google Pay balance:

  1. Go to
  2. Choose the payment method you want to transfer to.
  3. Enter the amount.
  4. Click Transfer to bank.
