The Google Pay API for Passes Merchant Center

The Google Pay API for Passes Merchant Center helps you manage your passes that your customers can save to Google Pay. After we approve you to access the API, set up your Google Pay API for Passes Merchant Center account, then your service account.

Set up your Google Pay API for Passes Merchant Center account

To set up your Google Pay API for Passes Merchant Center, follow these steps:

  1. Respond to our email and provide your Google Account login email address. You’ll use this to access the Google Pay API for Passes Merchant Center and the Google API Console.

    If you're an aggregator, you can use the same Google account for multiple clients, as long as you do not share this Google Account with your clients. You can use the same Google Account to create multiple API projects and / or service accounts.

  2. We’ll send an email to the Google Account specified in your request. Follow the link in the email and you will be directed to your new Google Pay API for Passes Merchant Center account.

    Note: You can find the Issuer ID you’ll use to make REST API calls in the “Account Management” section of the Google Pay API for Passes Merchant Center.

Set up your service account

After you create your Google Pay API for Passes Merchant Center account, create a service account in the Google Cloud Console. This service account will be linked to your Google Pay API for Passes Merchant Center account to start calling to the Google Pay API for Passes. Follow these instructions to create your service account

After you create your service account, link your service account to your Google Pay API for Passes Merchant Center account by using the share functionality:

  1. Open your Google Pay API for Passes Merchant Center account.
  2. In the Account Management section, click Share.

  3. Enter the service account email address in the invite box. You can also use the share functionality to grant access to other users that will manage your Google Pay API for Passes Merchant Center account.
  4. Under Who has access, set permissions to Can edit or Owner, then click Share
  5. Click Save.

    Note: If you set the permissions to Can view, you won’t be able to make any calls to the API. You can also use the share functionality to grant access to other users that'll manage your Google Pay API for Passes Merchant Center account.

You are now able to integrate the Google Pay API for Passes and enable your customers to begin using them in your stores. 

If you're an aggregator, each of your clients will need an individual service account to be created in the API console.
