Get started with a Spot Code

A Spot Code is a Google branded visual code that works similar to a QR code but is unique to Google Pay India. You can share and scan a Spot Code to find a peer or a Spot. To use a Spot Code, you must have the latest version of Google Pay installed on your device.

You can use Spot Code to:

  • Make payments.
  • Share your profile with others when they scan or take screenshots of your code.
  • Share microapps.

Scan Spot Code

Since Spot Code is unique to Google Pay India, you can only scan it with a Google Pay scanner.

  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Pay app .
  2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture.
  3. Tap Code scanner.
  4. Scan the other person’s code.

Share your Spot Code

Important: Spot Codes can only be scanned with the Google Pay code scanner.

  1. Open Google Pay .
  2. In the top right, tap your avatar.
  3. Tap your Spot Code.
  4. Have people scan the code with their Google Pay scanner.

Tip: You can also send people a screenshot of your Spot Code.

Find a peer or Spot by scanning a Spot Code

Important: Spot Codes can only be scanned with the Google Pay code scanner.

  1. Open Google Pay .
  2. In the top right, tap your avatar.
  3. Tap your Spot Code and then Open code scanner.
  4. Scan a Spot Code and follow the on-screen instructions for completing a transaction.

Tip: The Google Pay scanner can scan both Spot Codes and QR codes. Learn more about sending money with a QR code.
