How to cancel a ticket
You can cancel your train ticket through Google Pay at any time after booking as long as the train’s chart hasn’t already been prepared.
To cancel a train ticket for all or some passengers, follow these steps:
- Open the Google Pay app.
- In the Business section, tap the Trains chat head. You can also search for 'trains' under the New section.
- In your transaction history, select the ticket that you want to cancel.
- Tap View details.
- At the bottom of the details, tap Cancel ticket.
- If the ticket is for one passenger, a confirmation screen appears.
- If the ticket is for more than one passenger, select which passenger to cancel. After selecting the cancelled passenger, a confirmation screen appears.
- To confirm your cancellation, tap Yes, proceed.
After confirming your cancellation, your request is reviewed. If your cancellation is approved, a cancellation notice appears in your train transaction history with the refund amount and a summary of your cancellation. To make sure that your cancellation can be approved, check the IRCTC Terms & Conditions and cancellation procedure.
Cancellation exceptions
There are some instances when you cannot cancel your train ticket. Here are some examples:
- The chart for this train has been prepared. After the chart is prepared, you can still file a TDR.
- The departure time for this train has passed.
- The train has been cancelled, so your ticket is no longer valid. If your train is cancelled, you’ll automatically receive a refund.
About refunds
In certain cases, such as cancelling your ticket after a chart is prepared, you may need to manually request a refund. Refunds are claimed through a ticket deposit receipt (TDR) from IRCTC. The refund process generally takes at least 60 days to complete, and may include a cancellation fee. For more information, check the IRCTC Terms & Conditions and cancellation procedure.
To file a refund, contact Google Pay support to request support on facilitating a TDR from IRCTC.
