Create, change, or reset your UPI PIN

A UPI PIN is a unique four or six-digit code that confirms all bank transactions. Your UPI PIN is the number that you enter whenever you add a new payment account or make a transaction.

Create or set up a UPI PIN

You can set up or create a new UPI PIN when you first add a bank account on any UPI-enabled app. To create a UPI PIN, you’ll need to verify your account credentials through your debit card or Aadhaar card (if your bank allows verification through Aadhaar cards).

If you already have a UPI PIN for your bank account, you can use the same UPI PIN on Google Pay. You can also change your UPI PIN through Google Pay.

Change your UPI PIN
To change your UPI PIN through Google Pay:
  1. On your phone, open Google Pay .
  2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture.
  3. Tap Bank account.
  4. Tap the bank account that you want to edit.
  5. Tap More More and then Change UPI PIN.
  6. Enter your old UPI PIN.
  7. Create a new UPI PIN.
  8. Enter your new UPI PIN again.

Tip: If you enter a wrong UPI PIN more than 3 times, you either need to:

  • Wait for 24 hours to make your next transaction.
  • Reset your PIN to make transactions immediately.
Reset your UPI PIN
If you forgot your UPI PIN, you can reset it through Google Pay:
Important: To reset your UPI PIN, you need your debit card or Aadhaar card details.
  1. Open Google Pay .
  2. At the top right,tap your photo and then Bank account.
  3. Tap the bank account that you want to edit.
  4. Tap Forgot UPI PIN.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Tip: If you enter a wrong UPI PIN more than 3 times, you either need to:

  • Wait for 24 hours to make your next transaction.
  • Reset your PIN to make transactions immediately

Set up UPI PIN with Aadhaar card

Some banks allow you to use your Aadhaar card to verify your credentials when you add a bank account and set or reset your UPI PIN on Google Pay.

Your Aadhaar card should be linked to the same mobile number that’s registered with the bank account that you want to add to Google Pay. To check if your bank allows Aadhaar based onboarding, check with your bank.

Unable to reset the UPI PIN with my Aadhaar card

If you add your bank account on Google Pay and verify it through your Aadhaar card, you can use your Aadhaar card to reset your UPI PIN. If you verify your bank account through your debit card when you first add it to Google Pay, you need to use your debit card to reset the UPI PIN.

Your Aadhaar card should be linked to the same mobile number that’s registered with the bank account that you want to add to Google Pay.

To find the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar number:

  1. On your phone, go to https://uidai.gov.in.
  2. Tap Select preferred language.
  3. Tap My Aadhaar and then Aadhaar services and then Verify email/Mobile number.
    • If you can’t find the option to reset your UPI PIN to Google Pay, contact your bank.
      • Your bank will help you link your bank account to your Aadhaar card.
    • To find your bank's contact details, go to www.digisaathi.info.
I received an error that says my Aadhaar number is incorrect

Your Aadhaar card should be linked to the same mobile number that’s registered with the bank account that you want to add to Google Pay.

  • Enter the correct Aadhaar card number and try again.
    • If you still get an error, contact your bank.
