Pay bills using Google Pay

Important: If your transaction has failed, please wait for 2-3 days for a refund. Meanwhile, check your bank account statement to know your refund status.

You can pay your bills including mobile, television, electricity, water, and gas using Google Pay.

Add a biller account to Google Pay

  1. Open Google Pay .
  2. From the bottom of the screen, slide up.
  3. Tap New and then type in the name of a biller.
  4. From the search results, tap the name of the biller and then Link account.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
    • If you're asked to enter your Customer ID, you can find it on your physical bill or e-bill.
    • If you link a biller, you don’t need to link it again for next transactions.

Edit bill payment subscriptions

If there’s a problem with your account, you might be asked to edit details of a bill payment subscription on Google Pay.

  1. Select Edit.

  2. Edit your phone number, operator, or subscription details.
  3. To complete your payment, follow the on-screen instructions.

Pay a bill

  1. Open Google Pay .
  2. At the bottom of the screen, swipe up.
  3. Tap New.
  4. Type in the name of a biller.
  5. From the search results, tap the name of the biller and then Make payment.
  6. Select an account. Learn more about payment limits using Google Pay.
  7. You can choose from multiple bill options depending on the biller. The bill options can be for different time periods.
  8. You'll find one of the following:
    • Pay for different time periods:
      1. Tap Make Payment.
      2. Check the amount of the bill.
        Tip: You can’t edit the amount of the bill.
      3. Choose a time period.
    • Pay an available bill: On the bill, tap Pay Bill.
  9. Follow the on-screen steps.
  10. When done, view the bill to confirm that the payment was successful.

Tips:

  • It usually takes up to 3 business days for payments to show up in your account.
  • If you’ve paid your bill outside of Google Pay, long-press the due bill and select the option for “Delete item” to delete it as paid.

View your bills

  1. Open Google Pay .
  2. From the bottom of the screen, slide up.
  3. Tap a biller. You’ll see a list with details of paid and pending bills, if any.

Check the status of your payment

  1. Open Google Pay .
  2. From the bottom of the screen, slide up.
  3. Tap a biller.
  4. Choose the bill payment.

Find your biller

  1. Open  Google Pay .
  2. From the bottom of the screen, slide up.
  3. Tap New Payment.
  4. Tap on Bill payment or Mobile Recharge. 
  5. Tap a Category & you will see the list of billers available on Google Pay.

Raise a dispute for a bill payment

To raise a dispute:

  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Pay app .
  2. Tap Show transaction history.
  3. Tap the transaction for which you want to raise a dispute.
  4. Tap Get Help and then Having issues.
  5. To create a ticket, tap Payment issues and then Raise dispute.
  6. Select a reason for the dispute.
  7. Tap Raise dispute.

Tip: If you make a payment, you can only raise a dispute within 90 days.

Check the status of your dispute

  1. Open Google Pay .
  2. On the chathead or “Show transaction history” page, select the previously disputed payment.
  3. Check the status of your dispute.

Check the status of a refund for a failed order

  1. Open Google Pay .
  2. On the chathead or “Show transaction history” page, select the previously disputed payment.
  3. Check the status of your refund against the failed payment.

Pay bills automatically through SMS on GPay

You can add billers automatically to GPay through SMS. You can add utility bills, credit card bills, and other recurring payments to GPay without the manual entry of your biller's information.

  1. On your mobile device, open Google Pay .
  2. Tap Pay bills.
  3. Next to “Add bills & recharges automatically,” tap Add Circle .

FAQs

Add a biller automatically through SMS

You can automatically add most utility bills, credit card bills, and other recurring payments to GPay through SMS.

To check if your biller supports this feature:

  1. On your mobile device, open Google Pay .
  2. Tap Pay bills.
  3. Next to “Add bills & recharges automatically,” tap Add Circle .
  4. Tap Add biller.
  5. Enter the biller's name and phone number.
  6. If your biller supports this feature, you can find the "Send SMS" option.

If you don’t receive the SMS

If you don't receive the SMS, make sure that you enter the biller's phone number correctly. You can also send the SMS again. If you still don’t receive the SMS, contact your biller for assistance.

Stop the automatic addition of a biller through SMS

  1. On your mobile device, open Google Pay .
  2. Tap Pay bills.
  3. Select the biller.
  4. Tap Manage biller.
  5. Select the biller that you don’t want to add through SMS.
  6. Tap Remove.

Troubleshoot problems

Your physical bill and the Google Pay bill amounts are different.

Google Pay shows the most recent bill amounts received from the biller. If you see different amounts, contact your biller.

You paid more than your bill amount.

If you paid more than your bill amount, the extra amount should get used toward your next payment with the same biller. Check with your biller to confirm.

To get a refund for the extra money paid, contact your biller.

Your payment failed but the money left your account.

Step 1: See how long it takes to get your money back

  1. Find your payment and check the status.
  2. If the status says "Failed," you’ll see how many days it might take to get your money back.

Step 2: Wait, then check your bank account

After the stated number of days, check your bank account to see if you got your money back.

Step 3: Let us know if you didn't get your money back

  1. Open the payment that you want to report.
  2. Tap Raise Dispute.
  3. Follow the steps on the screen.

Your payment was successful but the biller hasn’t gotten the money.

Step 1: See how long it takes to pay the biller

  1. Find your payment and check the status.
  2. If the status says "Success," you’ll see how many days it might take for the money to reach the biller.

Step 2: Wait, then check your bill status

After the stated number of days, check with your biller to confirm that the money has been paid.

Step 3: Let us know if the biller hasn't gotten the money

  1. Open the payment that you want to report.
  2. Tap Raise Dispute.
  3. Follow the steps on the screen.

You want to pay your bill but your biller isn’t listed on Google Pay.

If your biller isn’t listed on Google Pay, you can’t pay your bills using Google Pay right now. You can share feedback and let us know which billers you’d like to see on Google Pay.

Set up Autopay for bill payments

Important: Autopay is currently only available for postpaid mobile, electricity, and broadband bill payment categories.

  1. On your mobile device, open Google Pay .
  2. From the bottom of the screen, slide up.
  3. Go to the “Bills & Recharges” section.
  4. To check your payment history, select the corresponding recharge or utility bills category.
  5. Tap the biller you want to set up for Autopay.
  6. At the top right, tap Autopay Automatic payment deduction for a recurring bill.

  8. To set the Autopay details, tap Edit.

  9. Enter the customized amount, frequency, duration, and suitable end date.

  10. To get Autopay started, tap Save.
