Fix problems with a transaction

If you sent money to someone but they haven’t received it yet, use the information below to help you troubleshoot.

Note: Once you’ve sent money, you can’t cancel the transaction.

Step 1: Check transaction status

  1. Open Google Pay Google Pay.
  2. From the bottom of the screen, slide your finger up to show your contacts.
    • To see all transactions: at the bottom of the screen, tap All transactions.
    • To see transactions with a specific person: tap the contact.
  3. Click on each transaction to view more details.

Payment processing

It might take up to one week for your bank to complete the transaction. After the processing period, the transaction status will change to either 'Success' or 'Failed'.

Note: Don’t try to make the same payment again while the status is 'Payment processing'.

Success

If the transaction is successful, the recipient will get the money.

Failed

If the transaction failed, the money will be put back into your account.

Step 2: Wait three days

It usually takes up to three working days for your bank to complete the transaction. Wait for your bank to complete the transaction before contacting support.

Step 3: Check bank statements

Sometimes banks take extra time to transfer money. Ask the recipient to check their bank statement to see if they have received the money.

In case of a failed transaction, check your own bank statement for the money. The entry will say ‘UPI-REV’ or ‘UPI-RET’ followed by the UPI transaction ID.

Step 4: Report the transaction

Next, if the money hasn't been received after three business days, follow these steps.

Note: Only the sender can report a transaction. If you’re waiting to receive money from someone, ask them to report the transaction.

  1. Open Google Pay Google Pay.
  2. Open the transaction that you want to report.
  3. At the top right, tap More Moreand then Raise a dispute.
  4. Tap Continue.

Most disputed transactions are resolved within two weeks.
