There are daily limits to how much money you can send or receive through UPI transactions.
Tip: Transaction limits on Google Pay vary by bank account, credit card, and other payment methods. Learn about UPI Issuing bank wise limits.
Person-to-person (P2P) payment limits
You may not be able to make a payment to person if you reach any of these limits:
- A successful payment total of up to ₹1 lakh from a single bank account in the last 24 hours. This limit is set by banks across all UPI apps.
- 20 successful payments in the last 24 hours.
- 150 successful payments in the last 30 days.
To fix these issues:
- Wait until the next day to send more money.
- Pay a smaller amount.
- Try with a different bank account.
Know your transaction limits as a new Google Pay or UPI user
If you reinstalled the app and added your bank account recently on your Google app, here are the UPI guidelines:
-
For Android devices: You can only transfer up to ₹5,000 within the first 24 hours for security reasons.
- For iOS devices: For the first 3 days after you add a bank account, you can transfer up to ₹5,000 every 24 hours, with a total maximum limit of ₹15,000 for the period.

Identify verified merchants
Higher limits apply only to merchants verified by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Signs of a verified merchant:
- Green tick: A green checkmark shows next to the merchant's banking name on the payment screen.
- Message: Before you enter your UPI PIN, Google Pay shows a message like "You can pay up to ₹X,XX,XXX to this merchant."
Tip: A high-value transaction with a verified merchant may fail if your bank's daily limit is below the NPCI maximum.
Bank limits
If your daily transactions are below the prescribed UPI limit mentioned above and you’re still having trouble, try a different bank account.
Your bank might have its own limits on how much you can send or receive. Contact your bank for more information.
Other limits
To protect against fraud, some transactions might get flagged for further review. If you’re having trouble making a transaction and you don’t think you reached a limit, contact Google Pay support.
Tip: If you try to send or receive less than ₹1, the money won’t go through and you’ll get an error message.
