Common reasons why you can’t find someone

In Google Pay, the “Allow people to find you” setting isn’t automatically turned on.

If this setting isn’t turned on, a person isn’t searchable unless you’re already connected to them on Google Pay.

To turn on the “Allow people to find You” setting, the receiver must complete the following steps.

  1. Open the Google Pay app .
  2. On the Pay screen , at the top right, tap your profile picture or Account .
  3. Tap Settings and then Privacy and Security and then How people find you on Google Pay.
  4. Select Allow people to find you.

You can search for someone in your contacts with their name, phone number, or email:

  • If a person is in your device contacts, you can search for them with their name.
  • If a person isn’t in your device contacts, you can search for them with their email address or phone number.
