Secure your Google Pay account

Important: App lock functionality in GPay is an optional feature.

  • After you've configured your first bank account on GPay, when you re-open the app, you'll receive a prompt to set up the lock feature.
  • If you choose to skip it, you can still follow the steps below to opt-in at a later point in time.
  • For push payments to online merchants such as Swiggy, Zomato, Amazon, Flipkart, Zerodha, and others, GPay app lock is skipped.

To make Google Pay more secure, you will require a Google PIN to use the app. You can also use your existing screen lock to secure Google Pay.

  • For the screen lock feature, if the device is unlocked within 30 seconds, GPay app lock will be skipped.

Important: For push payments to online merchants such as Zomato, Flipkart, Zerodha, and others, GPay app lock is skipped for both screen lock and Google PIN.

Tip: Your Google PIN is different from your UPI PIN or the PIN that you use to unlock your phone.
