Flex is a fully digital credit card. It simplifies how you apply, use, and manage your credit card. You get a full digital access, flexible repayment options, and instant rewards.

Key features of Flex by Google Pay

  • Apply and get approved in minutes: The entire application process is purely digital. Apply in-app and use Flex within minutes.
  • Use your Flex credit card everywhere like UPI: Similar to RuPay, you can access credit at any time and anywhere with your Flex credit card. You can use it online or offline.
  • Redeem Stars instantly: You can earn Stars as rewards on eligible payments with Flex, and redeem them instantly for your next Flex payment on Google Pay. One Star is equivalent to ₹1.
  • Manage your Flex card in the Google Pay app: This would include features, such as:
    • Check your credit limit usage
    • Set transaction limits
    • Block or unblock your card
    • Reset your PIN
    • Find card details
  • Pay your dues with flexible Equated Monthly Instalments (EMIs): Convert your bills into EMIs with flexible tenure options. You can also get lower interest rates.
  • No hidden fees: Flex has no hidden fees.
    • Processing fees may apply for EMI conversions.
    • Late payment fees and other charges may be applicable as per the issuing bank's policy.

Apply for a Flex card

Flex by Google Pay is currently launched in partnership with Axis Bank. Google Pay will be partnering with more issuers in the future.

Application for the Flex credit card is a straightforward digital process. Make sure your Google Pay app is updated to the latest version.

To get started, follow the step-by-step process:

  1. Open the Google Pay app .
  2. At the bottom, tap Money.
  3. On the “Get Flex” banner, tap Apply.
  4. Tap Continue.
  5. Enter your personal and employment details.
  6. Add your card preferences.

  8. Tap Accept and continue.
  9. Enter the OTP to verify the application.
  10. To submit your Flex application, tap Submit application.
    • Your application will be reviewed by the issuing bank, who’ll assess eligibility based on their criteria and your credit profile.

  11. Tap on Continue.
  12. To complete your identity verification with your Aadhaar and PAN card, tap Continue.

    • You’ll get a notification when the digital KYC verification is complete.

When the application gets approved, your Flex credit card will be digitally issued and can be linked to your Google Pay app. You'll receive a notification in the app when your card is ready to use.

Tip: You’ll be asked to consent to share a privacy-safe signal with the bank. This is optional but can help optimize and speed up the issuance process. Google doesn’t share any user-level transaction data.

How to use your Flex credit card

Important: Payments using Flex are currently available only for merchants who accept RuPay payments.

Flex by Google Pay gives you complete control over your credit card experience directly within the app. You can use your Flex credit card to:

  • Scan and pay with UPI QR codes:
    1. When you're at a merchant, open your Google Pay app .
    2. Scan the UPI QR code.
    3. Select your Flex card as the payment method.
      • The amount will be debited from your credit account.
  • Pay online purchases: Use your Flex credit card for online purchases wherever RuPay credit cards are accepted. You can securely find your card details within the Google Pay app.
  • Pay in-store purchases (where RuPay is accepted): At merchants that accept RuPay credit cards, you can use Flex like a regular credit card.

Manage your Flex credit card

You can conveniently control your Flex credit card from the Flex homepage in the Google Pay app.

  • Manage transaction limits: You can adjust your daily or per-transaction spending limits to suit your needs.
  • Check due amount and available limits: In the Flex homepage, you can find:
    • Due amount
    • Due date
    • Bill details
    • Available limits
    • Details of recent transactions
  • Find Stars earned or used: In the Flex homepage under Stars section, you can find Stars history where you can find Stars used and Stars earned for each reward cycle.
  • Pause or block Flex: Pause all payments temporarily for security until you reactivate them. If you think your card's details have been stolen, you can block the card permanently to prevent unauthorized transactions.
  • Manage Flex payment settings: You can choose what type of payments you can make with your Flex credit card. You can enable or disable payment options.
  • Find card details: Securely find your full card number, expiry date, and CVV for online transactions.
  • Convert transactions into EMI: After the transaction is completed, you can convert individual transactions into EMI. The transactions you want to convert are subject to the issuer bank’s eligibility criteria.
    • With the repay in EMIs option, you can convert your total outstanding bill into EMIs with various tenure options, which helps you manage your finances flexibly.
    • Flexible repayment options:
      • Pay the full amount.
      • Pay the minimum amount, rest in EMI: Choose preferred EMI tenure. Review the EMI details, including interest rates, before confirming.
      • Pay any amount: You’ll be charged interest and other charges as per issuer’s policies on the remaining amount and future transactions.
  • Repayment methods:
    • UPI: Pay your bill directly using UPI.
    • Debit card: Use your debit card to make payments.
    • Net banking: Make payments through your bank's net banking service.

Close your Flex by Google Pay credit card

If you wish to close your Flex card, you must contact the partner bank that issued your card.

  1. Clear all outstanding dues: Before you initiate closure, ensure all your outstanding amounts are fully paid.
  2. Contact your partner bank: Find your issuing bank's customer care details in the Flex section of your Google Pay app or on their official website.
  3. Follow their instructions: The bank will guide you through the account closure process.

Fix issues with Flex by Google Pay

If you encounter any issues with your Flex credit card, here’s how you can get help:

  • Application issues: If you encounter issues throughout the application process within the Google Pay app, ensure you have a stable internet connection and that all information entered is accurate.
  • Card not working for payments:
    • Check card status: Make sure your card isn't blocked. You can check this in the Google Pay app.
    • Check limits: Verify that you haven't exceeded your transaction limits.
    • Merchant acceptance: Confirm that the merchant accepts RuPay credit cards or UPI QR code payments.
    • Sufficient credit limit: Ensure you have enough available credit for the transaction.
  • Unable to redeem Stars: Ensure you have enough Stars available for the redemption value. If you have a sufficient Star balance but can not redeem, contact Google Pay India customer care.
  • Billing and Statement issues: For any discrepancies in your bill, transactions you don't recognize, or issues with EMI conversions, these are handled by your partner bank.
  • Card details stolen:
    1. In the Google Pay app, immediately block your card with the Flex card controls.
    2. Contact your partner bank's customer care to report the issue and for further assistance.
