Pay e-challan with Google Pay

You can pay for your e-challans in Google Pay. The payment is similar to payments of other bills like mobile, television, electricity, water, and gas.

Important: You can only pay one e-challan at a time.

  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Pay app Google Pay.
  2. Tap Pay bills and then Traffic Challans payment.
  3. Select the challan issuer.
  4. Enter your vehicle number.
  5. Tap Continue.
    • A list of pending e-challans displays.
  6. Select the e-challan you want to pay.
  7. Check the amount.
    • You cannot edit it.
  8. Select your payment method.
    • Bank account: No convenience fee.
    • Credit, debit, and Rupay card: A convenience fee applies.
  9. Tap Proceed.

Associated fees for e-challan payments

You might encounter fees when you pay e-challan payments through Google Pay.

  • Digital collection fee: The issuer adds this surcharge to the total challan amount, regardless of the payment method.
  • GST: 18% GST applies to the surcharge fee.
  • Convenience fee: The convenience fee that Google Pay charges depends on the payment method.
    • Credit, debit, or RuPay card: A convenience fee applies. The fee varies based on factors including the payment amount. The exact fee displays at payment.
    • UPI on Google Pay: No convenience fee.

Important: If your payment fails, Google Pay refunds the convenience fee and e-challan payment. The refund will be credited to your payment account within a specified time.

Check your e-challan payment status

  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Pay app Google Pay.
  2. Scroll down to “Bills & recharges.”
  3. Tap e-challan issuer.
  4. Select Bill payment.

Troubleshoot problems with e-challan payments

Your payment failed but your account was debited

Important: You can only raise a dispute within 90 days of payment.

  1. Find your payment and check its status.
    • If the status says "Failed," you’ll find the refund timeframe.
  2. After the timeframe, check your bank account for the refund.
  3. If you haven’t received your refund:
    1. On your mobile device, open the Google Pay app Google Pay.
    2. Tap See transaction history.
    3. Select the payment.
    4. Tap Having issues and then Payment issues and then Raise dispute.
Your payment was successful but the issuer hasn't received the money

Important: You can only raise a dispute within 90 days of making a payment.

  1. Find your payment and check its status.
    • If the status says "Success," you’ll find the timeframe for the issuer to receive the money.
  2. After the timeframe, check with the issuer.
  3. If the issuer hasn’t received the money:
    1. On your mobile device, open the Google Pay app Google Pay.
    2. Tap See transaction history.
    3. Select the payment.
    4. Tap Having issues and then Payment issues and then Raise dispute.
Check dispute status

Important: If your e-challan transaction fails, wait for 2–3 days for a refund. Check your bank statement for your refund status.

To check your dispute's progress:

  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Pay app Google Pay.
  2. On the chat head or "Show transaction history" page, select Previously disputed payment.
  3. Check the status.
