Transaction limit for RuPay credit cards on Google Pay
- Once the RuPay credit card payment method is set up, identify the Virtual Payment Address (VPA) that corresponds to the RuPay credit card on the “Payment method details” screen.
- The VPA that corresponds to RuPay-on-UPI can only be used at merchant checkout experiences. If attempted to use for P2P transactions, it will fail.
For RuPay-on-UPI transactions, the card issuing bank manages the limit of RuPay credit cards. To determine card limits, your bank takes the following factors into account:
- RuPay credit card limit set by the card issuing bank.
- For RuPay credit cards on UPI transactions, credit limits are put in place by the card issuing bank with their risk management framework.
- Credit limit you set on the bank's mobile banking app.

You can use RuPay cards added on GPay as the payment method when you pay at stores or to merchants. To set your RuPay card as the default form of payment:
- On the Google Pay app, tap Profile picture.
- Navigate to payment methods.
- To modify the default settings, select your preferred Rupay card.
- To toggle off or on the default setting for the specific RuPay card, navigate to Card usage settings.
- You can either turn off the default setting or select which RuPay card can be set as default to complete merchant payments.
Sometimes, transactions may take longer or fail because of issues with UPI payment servers. An additional UPI ID helps improve your payment success rate by routing your transaction through the server that will ensure a successful payment.
You can have multiple UPI IDs for the same payment method. This lessens payment delays or failure and is secured by Google Pay. You can add up to 3 UPI IDs for your RuPay credit card.
- Open the Google Pay app .
- At the top right, tap your Photo.
- Tap Payment methods.
- Tap the RuPay credit card for which you want to create a new UPI ID.
- Select Manage UPI IDs.
- Next to the UPI ID you want to create, tap Add .
