Earn shaguns & unlock rewards with Festival City

Celebrate Diwali as you unlock exciting rewards in Google Pay’s Festival City. Embark on a quest to take on different challenges in the Diwali map and collect shaguns. If you complete the challenges and collect all 501 shaguns, you can get up to ₹501 INR cashback and a golden gift.

What you need

To play the game, you need to have:

The latest version of the Google Pay app.
A bank account linked to the Google Pay app.

How to participate

On your mobile device, open the Google Pay app .
- You must have the latest version of the Google Pay app.
On the homepage, in the "Promotions" section, tap Festival City.
- You can also enter through the Transaction page: At the top of the homepage, tap Go to Festival City.
Enter Festival City.
- You’ll land on the Diwali map and find different colored areas. Each area has its own games and challenges.
- A new area on the map is unlocked over time during the campaign, until 20 November 2023.
  - More areas and building challenges are unlocked progressively during the campaign period.
Collect the Welcome Shagun.
- To collect your Welcome Shaguns, make a transaction of ₹1 INR.
After you complete the Welcome Shagun, you can move to the next challenge.
- Each time you complete a challenge, you can move to the next challenge on the map.
  - You earn shaguns for every challenge you complete.
- Challenges can be of many types.
  - Building challenge: You must complete certain transactions to complete the building.
    Types of building challenges
    Friendship House: Make 7 transactions with another friend.
    - You can make one transaction a day.
    - Minimum transaction amount is ₹150 INR.
    Recharge Bazaar: Make 3 recharges.
    - Minimum transaction amount is ₹30 INR.
    Lite Rocket Lab: Make 4 different types of UPI Lite transactions.
    - Minimum transaction amount is ₹30 INR.
    Power Station or Lighthouse: Pay an electricity bill through the Google Pay app.
    - Minimum transaction amount is ₹150 INR.
    QR Kirana Store: Make 7 QR code transactions.
    - Minimum transaction amount is ₹30 INR.
    Bill payment kiosk: Complete 2 bill payments, except electricity and insurance.
    - Minimum transaction amount is ₹150 INR.
    - Special challenges: Complete the special challenges.
      - Rangoli Fest
      - Fun Zone
To earn 2 scratch cards, collect 501 shaguns.
- The scratch cards can be:
  - Cashback: The amount is up to ₹501 INR.
  - Special locked reward: This is a special reward sponsored by partners. It could be one of the following:
    - Redmi Note 12 5G phone
    - 30% off on Dominos, Uber, Myntra, Zomato, or Reliance Smart
    - ₹120 INR off on Amazon Prime membership
    - 30% off on YouTube Premium monthly subscription
    - ₹450 INR off on Times Prime annual subscription
    - ₹100 INR off on Hotstar 3 months subscription
    - ₹100 INR off on MX Player annual subscription
Some challenges let you share with friends and win bonus shaguns.
- If you share your game progress with your friends, it increases your chances to earn extra shaguns.

Tips:

You can check the number of shaguns you earned in the “Shagun counter.”
To check the challenges you completed and the number of shaguns earned for each one, go to the “Shaguns history” section.

To increase your chances to earn extra shaguns, you can share your game progress with friends.

Cashback rewards

To earn the rewards and cashbacks, complete all the challenges in Festival City until 20 November 2023.
The amount of cashback you earn varies up to ₹501 INR.
You can find the cashback you earn in your rewards channel.
- If unused, your cashback reward expires 7 days after you redeem it.
All cashbacks are added to your UPI-enabled bank account linked to Google Pay.
To receive rewards, make sure your bank account is added while you participate in the campaign.
Your cashbacks expire after 45 days if:
- The card isn’t scratched.
- You have no account linked with Google Pay.
- The cashback can’t be added because of issues with your linked account.

Non-cashback rewards

You can earn non-cashback rewards sponsored by partner brands as you progress and complete the final stages of the game. These include one of the following special rewards:
