As of June 15th, you can no longer send, request, receive, claim, or withdraw money with the old Google Pay app. For these features and more, download the new Google Pay app and visit support.google.com/googlepay for tips and support.

Edit or remove a payment method

You can edit or remove a debit card, a credit card, or bank account info stored in Google Pay. 

You can’t edit or remove your Google Pay balance.

Edit a payment method

  1. Go to pay.google.com.
  2. At the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Payment methods.
  3. Choose the credit card you want to update and then Edit.

You can edit the expiration date, the CVC, the name on the account, or your address. If you can't update your name or address, please contact support.

Tip: To update the expiration date or security code of an expired card, next to the card, tap Fix. Then enter the month (MM), year (YY), and CVC.

Remove a payment method

Remove a debit or credit card

  1. Open the Google Pay app Google Pay.
  2. At the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Payment methods.
  3. Tap the payment method you want to remove.
  4. At the top right, tap More More and then Remove payment method.

Tip: These steps might be different if your device has an old version of Android. Learn how to update your Android version.

When you set up contactless payments in the Google Pay app, your payment method is automatically added to your Android device settings. If you uninstall the Google Pay app, your payment method stays in your Android device settings and can still be used. Learn to remove payment methods in the app.

Remove the payment method from your Android device settings

  1. On your Android device, open Settings Settings.
  2. Tap Google Services & preferences and then Settings for Google apps and then Google Pay.
  3. Tap the payment method you want to remove.
  4. Tap More More and then Remove payment method.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Remove a bank account

Use a computer and follow the steps to remove a bank account on pay.google.com.

Nickname a payment method

  1. Open the Google Pay app Google Pay.
  2. At the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Payment methods.
  3. Tap the payment method you want to nickname.
  4. Scroll down and tap Add a nickname.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Tip: Your custom name can only be letters and fewer than 25 characters.

Remove a nickname for a payment method

  1. Open the Google Pay app Google Pay.
  2. At the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Payment methods.
  3. Tap the payment method you want to remove a nickname from.
  4. Scroll down and tap the payment method’s nickname.
  5. Tap Delete Remove and then Save.
