Check if your phone can make in-store purchases

To pay in stores with Google Pay, your Android phone must work with NFC (near-field communication).

If you set up Google Pay and added a card, but you’re having trouble paying in stores, follow these steps.

Step 1: Find out if your phone has NFC

  1. On your Android phone, open the Settings app.

  2. Under "Wireless & networks," tap More.

    • If you don’t see this option, look for a similar one, like "Connections" or "NFC." You might need to tap More to see other settings.

  3. If you see "NFC" or a similar option, you can pay in stores with Google Pay.

Note: These steps can differ depending on your device and Android version. If they don’t work, visit your device manufacturer’s help center for more info.
