Important: This article is for Google Pay customers in Japan.
You can use Google Pay to buy in stores and online.
Contactless payments
By adding the following contactless payment method to Google Pay, you can make purchases with your Osaifu-Keitai in stores that support contactless payments.
- E-money (Suica, Edy, Waon, Nanaco, and PASMO)
- Most credit cards issued in Japan are supported for topping up.
- Prepaid, debit, or credit card (QUICPay, iD, VISA Touch and Mastercard Tap & Go)

Important: E-money, QUICPay, and iD features are available in Japan only.
For third-party payment apps that use Google Accounts, like iD, QUICPay, Mobile Suica, and Mobile PASMO, use the same Google Account that you use in Google Pay.
If your device is not Osaifu-Keita compatible but is running Android Lollipop (5.0) or higher, you may make contactless purchases at merchants anywhere VISA Touch and Mastercard Tap & Go are supported globally. Buying online
- Check out on Google products (like Google Play, YouTube, or Google Store.)
- Make purchases online in apps or websites that support Google Pay. See supported online merchants.
Add a card
If you haven’t created an e-money card on your device, you can create one from Google Pay. To add an e-money card, your device must be Osaifu-Keitai compatible. If your device is not Osaifu-Keitai compatible, you won't be able to add an e-money card.
To add a PASMO, refer to Add PASMO to Google Pay.
Note: You can only have one e-money card per type on your device at a time.
- Open the Google Pay app

- At the bottom, tap Payment.
- At the bottom, tap + Payment method
E-money.
- Select the e-money card you want to add.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- Open the Google Pay app
.
- At the bottom, tap Payment.
- At the bottom, tap + Credit, debit, or prepaid card.
- Enter your card information.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
Charge an e-money card
You can add money to an e-money card from Google Pay.
Note: nanaco can only be charged in stores with cash.
- Open the Google Pay app

- Tap the e-money card you want to charge.
- Tap Add money.
- Select the amount of money you want to add and tap Select card.
- Add or choose a payment method. See which credit cards are accepted by Rakuten Edy, Suica, PASMO, or WAON.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- Your card's balance will update.
- Go to a store that supports charging e-money.
- Ask the cashier to top-up your e-money card. Be sure to mention the type of card you want to top-up.
- After paying cash, tap your phone on the card reader.
- Check Google Pay to make sure your balance was updated.
- If the balance doesn't update automatically, tap the update spinner in the card details screen.
Get low balance notifications
You can receive notifications when your e-money card balance dips below a certain amount.
- Open the Google Pay app

- Tap the e-money card you want notifications for.
- On the card detail screen, tap Low balance notification.
- Select the balance amount that will trigger the notification.
Delete a card
When you delete a card from Google Pay, it’s removed from your device and any e-money apps. You won't be able to access it from Google Pay or any other application.
E-money cards with a balance can't be removed from Google Pay. You'll need to spend or transfer the remainder of your balance. Learn how to transfer your balance to your e-money card.
- Open the Google Pay app

- Tap the card you want to delete.
- At the top right, tap More
Delete card.
- To delete a Suica, PASMO, or nanaco card, you'll also have to delete it from the e-money service provider's app.
Transfer cards from old device to new one
Find instructions for each e-money card linked below.
If you have issues, contact the e-money service provider for help.
For QUICPay or iD transfers, delete the card from the old device and add it to the new one.
View transactions
All transactions, including purchases, credit and in-store charges, and gifts will show up in your card’s transaction history within Google Pay.
- Open the Google Pay app

- Tap a card.
Important: If many transactions happen in a short amount of time, Google Pay may not show all your transaction details.
Protect a lost device
If your device is lost or stolen, follow these steps.
- If your phone is ever lost or stolen, you can find, lock, or erase it remotely using Find My Device. Note: This doesn't delete your e-money cards but will delete your credit, debit, or prepaid cards that were added for QUICPay or iD from the device. The device has to be online.
- Contact your carrier's Remote Lock service.
- Contact your e-money provider to stop the e-money mobile service in your device.
