Pay for parking online

When you drive to a location with participating parking nearby, you can pay for parking with Google Pay.
This feature is available in Austin, Texas.
Important: To avoid a fine or citation, confirm the details you enter match your license plate.
  1. To pay for parking:
    • Go to pay.google.com/parking and tap Pay for parking.
    • If you navigate with the Google Maps app Maps, when you arrive at your destination, you may find the option to tap Pay for parking.
  2. Enter the required information.
    • Parking zone number, which may be found on a nearby sign or meter
    • Parking space number, if applicable
    • Vehicle details
  3. If prompted, sign in to your Google Account.
  4. Choose how long you want to park for.
  5. Tap the payment method you want to use and then Continue.
    • Tip: If you haven’t added a payment method to Google Pay, you’ll need to do that before you can pay for parking.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Tip: The parking meter doesn’t display your parking session. To find the status of your parking session, go to pay.google.com/parking.

Extend your parking time

To add more time or start a new parking session:

  1. Go to pay.google.com/parking.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Find your receipt

Your receipt is sent to the primary email address of the Google Account you’re signed in to.

Manage vehicle details

  1. Go to pay.google.com/parking.
  2. At the top left, tap Menu Menu.
  3. Tap Saved vehicles.
  4. Select an option.
    • Add another vehicle: Enter the vehicle details.
    • Edit a vehicle: Next to the vehicle you want to edit, tap More More and then Edit.
    • Delete a vehicle: Next to the vehicle you want to delete, tap More More and then Delete.

Fix problems with pay for parking

If you can’t pay for parking or have issues with payment, follow the steps to fix the issue.

Fix location errors

If you get a message that says, “Google Pay could not determine your precise location,” you might need to update your location settings.

Step 1: Turn your location on

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, go to the Settings app .
  2. Tap Location.
  3. Turn Use location on.
  4. Reopen the web browser you used to try to pay and reload the page.
    • If you don’t get an error, on the message about your device’s location, tap Allow.
    • If you still get an error after you reload, follow the instructions below.

Step 2: Allow Google Pay to access your browser location

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. At the top right, tap More Organize and then Settings.
  3. Under "Advanced," tap Site settings.
  4. Tap Location.
    • If Location is “blocked,” turn Location on.
    • If a Google website is “blocked,” tap the website and then Location access and then Allow for current search engine
  5. Reopen the web browser you used to pay and reload the page.
  6. On the message about your device’s location, tap Allow.

Other parking issues

Request a refund

Important: You can’t cancel or change active parking sessions.

To request a refund, contact the parking merchant. On the receipt sent to your email, you’ll find details you may need:

  • Parking merchant’s contact info
  • Parking duration
  • Zone
  • Vehicle details
  • Unique reference ID

It may take up to 2 weeks to refund your payment. To confirm the status of your refund, contact your bank.

Dispute a fine or citation

To dispute a fine, contact the parking operator who issued the citation. You can find their contact information on the citation.

You may need to provide details, like the parking duration, zone, vehicle details, and unique transaction number. You can find these on the receipt sent to your email.

Meter doesn’t show parking session

The parking meter doesn’t display your parking session. Instead, parking enforcement personnel will check the status of your parking session through their handheld device.

To check the status of your parking session, go to pay.google.com/parking.
