About the new Partners exam and certification experience

The Google Partners exams and certifications are now available at Academy for Ads, Google's online training program. This means that you can take exams (now called assessments) and earn certifications through the Academy for Ads website instead of the Partners site. At Academy for Ads, you'll find online courses, assessments, and certifications all in one place — making it easier for you to learn about Google ads.

In this article, you'll learn about the new assessment and certification experience, and more about Academy for Ads.

What happened

In January 2018, information about your valid exams and certifications was transferred to Academy for Ads if you chose to transfer it. Information that was transferred included your name and each exam and certification that was valid as of January 16 2018.

Note that the Partners site is still available, and you can continue to access features such as promotions, insights, and Google Partner badge information (badge information is available to admins of company profiles).

About Academy for Ads

Academy for Ads is a Google training program that you can use to grow your advertising skills. It’s for anyone who uses Google ads, like AdWords, or DoubleClick. When you sign up, you'll be able to access online courses any time from any device.

If you don't have an Academy for Ads account, you'll need to sign up for Academy for Ads and create an account using your Google Account. If you already have an Academy for Ads account, you can sign in to it and access your assessment and certification information in the "My profile" section.

About the new experience

Assessments and certifications

In Academy for Ads, you can take assessments (these were called exams on the Partners website) and earn certifications from any learning path that has "certification" in its title. You can prepare for an assessment by taking the courses contained within the path.

For the AdWords certifications, you need to take 2 assessments — the AdWords Fundamentals and an additional product area assessment. When you take the assessments, you need to pass the AdWords Fundamentals assessment before you can access the product area assessment.

Notes

  • The AdWords assessments have been updated for the new AdWords experience. This means, for example, that questions about features that aren't available in the new AdWords experience, or that have changed in the experience, have been revised.
  • The PDF versions of the study guides are no longer available — except for the Digital Sales study guide, which will continue to be available as a PDF.

Assessment information

If you chose to transfer your valid exam and certification information to Academy for Ads, you can access it in the "My profile" section of your Academy for Ads account.

Available languages

All assessments, certifications, and printable certificates are available in 19 languages. The study guides in the Partners Help Center are still available in the existing 44 languages in the Partners Help Center.

Available languages: simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, Dutch, English (UK), English (US), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish, Spanish (Latin America), Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese

The Academy for Ads courses are still available in English only.

What happens to exams and certifications in unavailable languages

If you have valid exams and certifications in unavailable language and that information is transferred to Academy for Ads, those exams and certifications will remain valid in Academy for Ads in English. Following that, when you sign up for Academy for Ads or sign in to your Academy for Ads account, you'll need to select a preferred language that will be used when you take additional assessments going forward.

Partners public profile and sharing your certification on LinkedIn

The individual public profile is no longer available. Anyone who has a link to your public profile will see a notification at the top saying that the profile is no longer available.

Currently, Academy for Ads doesn't support the ability to add your certification to LinkedIn. As a result, you need to sign in to your LinkedIn account and remove any references to your Partners certifications in the "Accomplishments" section of your LinkedIn profile. Note that the certification links no longer go to your Partners certification certificates.

How your Partners exam and certification information is impacted

You'll continue to see information for any exams or certifications earned before January 16 2018 in the "My profile" section of your Partners account until April 2018. You can use this information to help you troubleshoot any issues you might have with your exams or certifications.

The exam and certification information available in your Partners account will include all valid exams that you took and certifications that you earned through the Partners site before January 16 2018. This means that if you took an assessment and earned a certification at Academy for Ads after January 16 2018, that information will be available in your Academy for Ads profile only.

Changes to reports

If you're a company admin, you'll no longer have access to the "Reports" tab in the "My company" section of your Partners account. This means, for example, that the exam certification report and user certification report, which you might use to check the status of your affiliated individuals, are no longer available.

Currently, Academy for Ads doesn't provide reports about your affiliated individuals exam and certification information. We recommend that you contact individuals affiliated with your company to confirm their exam and certification status. We also recommend that you have any affiliated individuals link their training activities to your company by listing your company's name and corporate email address in their Academy for Ads profile and sharing their training data with your company.

How your company's Partner badge and specializations might be impacted

The status of your company's Partner badge and specialization should not be impacted by the exams and certifications moving to Academy for Ads.

However, there are a few different factors that could put your company's Partner badge and specializations at risk, including the following:

  • Certification expiration dates
  • Not transferring exam and certification information to Academy for Ads
  • Not sharing certification information with your company from Academy for Ads
  • Not meeting the certification requirement for the Partner badge or specializations

Below is more information on these different factors and what you need to do. If your company's Partner badge or specialization ends up being at risk, admins for your company's Partners profile will get an email notification. Admins will also see a notification in the "Partner status" section of their Partners account.
