Apps privacy concerns

When you add applications, your public profile information will be shared through the application with:

  • The application third-party developer
  • Your friends who see your updates on Orkut
  • Any other viewer or user of the application, whether on orkut.com or another website where the application appears

Your public profile information includes any data available on your profile that doesn't have a privacy setting that limits access only to your friends. This includes content such as profile pictures, profile names and profile web addresses (all of which are public profile information). By adding an application, you agree to share the above information, and accept the additional Terms of Use of Applications.

Note that you can choose to keep your friends from receiving updates from an app you've added to your profile, by changing your permission settings. When you add an app, simply uncheck the Post updates to my friends option. You can also change this setting later by clicking the settings link on the top of any app page.

If you want to report an app for improper content (spam, nudity, or malicious content) click the report abuse link on the top of any app page. We will review these cases and remove any violating apps, but note that we will not contact you unless we need further information.
