You are not an administrator of your nonprofit’s Google Workspace account and you are unable to log in to admin.google.com.

Check this first: Google for Nonprofits and Google Workspace are two separate accounts and often have different sets of administrators. Make sure you are logging in with your custom domain email (e.g., name@yournonprofit.org) and not an @gmail.com account. If you aren't sure who your Workspace administrator is, check with your IT team.

If you are using the correct custom domain email address and still cannot log in:

  1. Attempt to reset your password using the Google Workspace account password recovery tool.
  2. If password recovery does not resolve the issue, fill out the Google Admin console login issues form.

Account Recovery & Administrative Rights

Please note that administrator roles in your Google for Nonprofits profile do not automatically grant Google Workspace administrative privileges. Users logging in with @gmail.com addresses cannot access the Google Admin console.

  • If you know who the original admin is: Ask them to create a new administrative account for you. Receiving an existing admin's login credentials may not be sufficient due to Google's multi-factor authentication and security checks.
  • If you cannot contact the existing admin: Use the Google Admin console login issues form to request account recovery or to request that an existing user in your Google Workspace account be promoted to administrator. Google requires verification of both user account and domain ownership.
  • If access cannot be recovered: Request that your domain name be released from Google's systems by submitting the Google Workspace contested domain form.
Note: Once you regain access, add backup recovery options to your administrator account to prevent future lockouts.
