How to restore back to KitKatNexus 7 Android 5 Lollipop

Just had notification of an upgrade to Android 5 which I did, boy what a bad choice, there are certain networks that it now refuses to work on,I get an exclamation mark next to the network icon which I understand means there are problems with that network & indeed it won't connect although in settings it says it is connected. I am so frustrated & would like to go back to KItkat 4.4 but I don't know how or if it is even possible, for the most part I can't use my device now & I'm so upset but mostly annoyed with Google for releasing this upgrade when it clearly isn't ready. I have the Nexus 7 2012, (not rooted) if anyone knows how to restore it to the previous version would be so grateful.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, sadly it sounds beyond my abilities, I didn't understand much of it & I'm worried that it's a procedure that would render the tablet totally useless. I had hoped there would be a more simple way of doing it, maybe I will have to wait for Google to issue a fix. thanks again

You might consider this: Hard Reset your Google Nexus 7 2012  http://www.androidpit.com/forum/566343/hard-reset-your-google-nexus-7-2012   but it restores it back to out-of-the-box.

For those having issues, please try a factory reset to see if that brings the devices back to life. I know its not the most popular choice, but at least give that a shot before doing anything above your abilities.

Reset your Nexus device to factory settings

By performing a factory data reset, all data will be wiped from the device. While any data stored in your Google Account will be restored, all apps and their associated data will be uninstalled. Learn how to back up your databefore performing a factory data reset.

You can remove all data from your Nexus device by resetting it to factory settings. There are two ways to reset your device: using the Settings menu or using Recovery mode.

Erase data using the Settings menu

See options for backing up and restoring your data before erasing any data. To erase your data using the Settings menu, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings  menu on your device.
  2. Under "Personal," touch Backup & reset.
  3. Under "Personal data," touch Factory data reset.
  4. Read the information on the screen and touch Reset phone or Reset tablet.
  5. If your device is password protected, you'll be prompted to enter your pattern, PIN, or password.
  6. When prompted, touch Erase everything to erase all data from your device's internal storage.

A HUGE, HUGE increase in speed with this Nexus 7 (2012 wi-fi) after reverting back to KitKat 4.4.4 from Lollipop 5.1. Flashing sailed thru smoothly except for it not unlocking at the step to run bootloader. In newer Lollipop you also have to disable “run an external program” from the Developer settings (a couple lines down from “usb-debugging”). The instructions at
are also quick and helpful.
