Ross HironsNexus 5 default email client not syncing with exchange
2 Recommended AnswersHello all,
Just received a Nexus 5. I can no longer add my exchange account. I get the error titled "Couldn't finish" "Couldn't sign in".
I run exchange server 2010, have a valid SSL, and passes all Microsoft exchange tests. Also works fine on my previous phone which is a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with android 4.2, an iPad running iOS 7, Mac mail and Outlook 2013 on windows 8.
Anyone else having issues or know of a way around this? Anyway to highlight this issue to google directly?
All the best.

ErsherHi everyone,
This thread has been really helpful for us to diagnose issues with the initial software update for your devices with the Email app. Since the new software update has gone out to all users, we are going to close this thread at this time, so that we can more speedily and efficiently identify new issues with the Email app. For those of you still experiencing problems please click the red post a question button to start a new thread with an issue specific subject line and we can handle those and troubleshoot with you directly there.

ErsherHi All,
Thank you again for reporting this issue, sending us bug reports, and for your continuing patience. The new Android 4.4.1 software update is starting to roll out now and should fix multiple problems with Exchange that were reported in this thread. Please let us know if this is the case - also to clarify we added some users from this thread to our Trusted Testers program but not all posters, so you may not have received the update just yet. Thank you so much for bearing with us.

Ross LovelaceI am having a different issue, but Exchange sync broke for me as well. Now it will download all messages when I add an account but will not sync thereafter. I am giving K-9 Mail a try.

Google userI'm also having a similar issue with my company's Zimbra servers. I'll set up an Exchange account and the initial sync will work just fine but then the syncing stops. A manual refresh will either do nothing or will start a loop where the phone starts and stops a sync about once every second or so. I've switched to IMAP in the mean time but really need Exchange as I get many time sensitive emails.
