Insert a micro SIM card in your Nexus 5
You need a SIM card to use your carrier's mobile network. If no card is installed, you’ll see a message that says “No SIM card.”How to get a micro SIM card
If you don’t have a micro SIM card, contact your mobile service provider. They should also activate your micro SIM card so you can start using it right away.
To install a micro SIM card:
- Look for the SIM card tray, which is located on the right side of the phone below the Power button. Insert the SIM ejection tool (that comes with the phone) into the eject button, which is the small hole just below the tray door.
- Push firmly but gently until the tray pops out.
- Remove the tray and place the micro SIM card inside it, matching the angled side of the card with the tray.
- Carefully push the tray back into the phone.
If your phone is on, you’ll have to restart it to connect to the mobile network.
If you contact customer service, you may need to share your phone’s IMEI identification number.
Your phone’s IMEI identification number is located on the SIM card tray, the box your phone comes in, and the sticker on the back of the phone. Write the IMEI number down in your Quick Start Guide or take a photo of the number.
If Sprint is your mobile service provider, you may need to provide a MEID identification number to activate your phone.
To get the MEID number, remove the last digit of the IMEI number (located on the SIM card tray, the box your phone comes in, and the sticker on the back of the phone).
