Adjust Camera settings

This information applies only to devices running Android 4.4.

These settings may vary by device.

You can change general Google Camera settings and specific settings for Camera, Video, and Lens Blur modes. To see what settings you can manage, select the options below.

General settings

You can change the resolution and quality for your device’s camera and choose to save the location for the photos you take.

Camera settings

To change Camera mode settings, follow these steps:

  1. Touch Google Camera on a Home screen or in the All Apps menu.
  2. Swipe to the right, then touch Camera.
  3. Touch the three horizontal dots in the lower right corner of the screen.

You can change the following settings:

Icon Mode Description
High Dynamic Range Puts the camera in HDR mode, which captures greater detail in bright or dark areas of a photo. (This setting isn’t available on all devices.)
Grid Turn grid lines on or off.
Flash mode Turn flash off (X) or on, or set to auto (A).
Switch camera Switch between the camera on the front to the camera on the back.
Video settings

To change Video mode settings, follow these steps:

  1. Touch Google Camera on a Home screen or in the All Apps menu.
  2. Swipe to the right, then touch Video.
  3. Touch the three horizontal dots in the lower right corner of the screen.

You can change the following settings:

Icon Mode Description
Flash mode Turn flash off (X) or on.
Switch video camera Touch to switch between the camera on the front to the camera on the back.
Grid Turn grid lines on or off.
Lens Blur settings

To change Lens Blur mode settings, follow these steps:

  1. Touch Google Camera on a Home screen or in the All Apps menu.
  2. Swipe to the right, then touch Lens Blur.
  3. Touch the three horizontal dots in the lower right corner of the screen.

You can change the following settings:

Grid Turn grid lines on or off.
Switch camera Switch between the camera on the front to the camera on the back.
