Hi,
News stories posted on our website do not get displayed under Google News results.
So, when a query is made on Google search that matches our news story title it shows on search results sometimes but not under news results.
The sub-domain was created in August 2020.
Please help with what may be the possible issue(s).

Hi Lehren,That is kind of expected. Things are going to be very different for your subdomain compared to your main domain that is a manually approved domain.
Things have changed drastically on GNews since 2019 end. Your sub-domain is subject to the automated systems of Google News which looks for relevance and freshness of articles from high-quality news websites.
Please do not expect the sub-domain to behave as your main-domain does. The newer system will not surface each and every article pushed by publishers but instead decide what it feels is relevant and fresh. It's going to be some time before articles from your Hindi publication even enter GNews in the normal search.
Please help with what may be the possible issue(s).
Can you do something to fix it immediately? Sadly, the answer is no. I am aware of who Lehren is but then that's how things are. The only thing I would suggest is to focus a bit more on original journalism apart from what you already do.

Just one question.
Do you think we can deal with this if we go for another domain (not a sub-domain), or a sub-directory link format?
Like www.domain.com/sub-directory/news-link/ or www.domain.com/news-link/ instead of sub.domain.com/news-link
Please guide.

The automated system has only been in place for around 400 days and that too just for newish publishers. Most of the cases we have seen on the forum till now have been either new subdomains in existing domains or existing websites migrating to a new domain e.g xyz.com to abc.com. In all those cases they have been subject to the automated system.
If it is fine with your digital team, then you can definitely try using a subdirectory. It could probably end up working although I can't say for sure as it is a unique situation. I am yet to see any publisher try a sub-directory on a manually approved domain since 2020.
If you do go for a sub-directory please ensure that the sub-directory is set up in line with the Technical Guidelines of GNews for languages and encoding.
In case, you do go for a sub-directory, do jump back in later and let us know how it transpired. I will keep a close eye as well :)
