How do I update source details?

To update source details, open your news source in the Google News Publisher Center. To the right of your source name and URL, click Details.

You can make the following edits to source details:

Update site name

Before doing so, review our site naming guidelines. Failure to follow these guidelines may be interpreted as an attempt to deceive or manipulate our system and could affect your sites' inclusion status in Google News.

Add or edit your Google+ Page URL

We may use publicly available information from your Google+ page to deliver a better news experience and to better surface your content. Add your Google+ page URL here to tie your publication's Google+ account to our record of your news source. Your Google+ URL should be of the format "https://plus.google.com/+ExampleSite" or "https://plus.google.com/[account digits]."

Add or edit source labels

Apply labels to your source only if they are applicable to all the sections in your source. Learn more about what each source label means.

After you've edited your source details, click Save to save your changes.

Note: When you make changes to our record of your news source information, it may take up to 24 hours for these changes to take effect. If 24 hours have passed and you’re still not seeing the impact of your changes, contact our team.

Troubleshoot issues

If you can't update source details, follow these steps:

  • Country: Your source was originally accepted into News for a given country. If your site has changed countries or you have an edition in a new country, please for inclusion within the Google News Publisher Center. Our team looks forward to reviewing your new content!
  • Source URL: Within Search Console and the Publisher Center, a site’s URL identifies the source and cannot be changed. If you’d like to use a different source URL, contact our team.
