How to read your reports

Transaction report

The detailed transaction report lists each transaction (sale or refund) that occurred within the report period. It details the sale type and date, revenue share, and publisher earnings for each. These reports don't include personally identifiable information (PII) of the customers.

The transaction report is considered final the day after the month ends. If there was a refund within the last few days before the end of the month, the transaction report may not match the amount paid out. If you have additional questions about payments received, please contact your account manager.

Date The day on which the transaction occurred.
Time The time (in Pacific Time) when the transaction occurred.
Order ID

A unique identification number for the customer's order. This is linked to the order, rather than the customer. So, the same customer may be reflected multiple times in a single report with different order IDs. For example, if a user subscribes to a magazine, and then cancels the subscription, this will generate 2 columns in the report to reflect the two transactions.

When a no-charge trial converts to a paid subscription, the transaction will have an Order ID that ends with ..0. For example: 123456789234565678..0 is the Order ID for a monthly subscription to Google's Great Magazine purchased on July 12, 2012. If you search for that Order ID without the ..0 (123456789234565678), you'll find the initial transaction when the 14 day no-charge trial began on June 28, 2012. Subsequent transactions will be appended with ..1, ..2, and so on. See the Subscription payment number column for this information without the Order ID.

Publisher Name The name listed on your publisher account.
Publisher ID The unique ID associated with your publisher account.
Merchant of Record The merchant of record on the transaction.
Magazine Title Name of the magazine the user purchased or subscribed to.
ISSN ISSN of the magazine in the transaction.
Issue Title If a user purchases a current or back issue, the issue title (e.g., Aug. 2012) will appear in this column. If the transaction reflects a subscription or no-charge trial, the cell in this row will be blank.
Publication Date The on-sale date for the magazine. This column only contains data if the transaction is for a single-issue purchase.
Type The "Type" column shows the type of transaction.
  • New No-Charge Trial. A user has subscribed to your magazine on a monthly or annual basis. If the user doesn't cancel the subscription within the no-charge trial period, our system will generate a new row with "New Paid Subscription" in the Type column.

  • New Paid Subscription. A user's no-charge trial has expired, and they've converted to a paid subscription.

  • Subscription Renewal. The user has renewed his subscription. This will appear every time a user renews a monthly or annual subscription.

  • CANCEL. The user cancelled a subscription.
  • REFUND. The user received a refund of a subscription or single issue purchase.

Exchange Amount The amount paid to publisher in the currency of the publisher's bank account, after applying the foreign Exchange Rate.
Exchange Currency The currency of the publisher's bank account, the result of the foreign exchange conversion.

Summary report

The summary report counts the total number of transactions by type, with one type per column per month. This includes subscriptions and single issues sold and refunded/canceled, as well as the total publisher earnings. Since the counts are grouped by month, if you download a report for July and August, transaction types such as "Current Issue" will be listed twice, the 2 rows showing the 2 months' sales for the most recent magazine issue.
