Get started with Reader Revenue Manager

Reader Revenue Manager helps publishers without an existing membership model incorporate a subscription or contribution model into their desktop and mobile web pages.

You can also use Reader Revenue Manager to help increase reader engagement and retention through features like newsletter sign-up, surveys and reader registration.

Reader Revenue Manager can help you:

What you need

To add a paywall or a contributions request, you also need:

Your personal or business info
- For individuals: Proof of identity
- For businesses: Proof of organisation details
Your publication's logo
- File format: .png (recommended) or .jpeg
- Dimensions: 1000 x 1000 pixels recommended, 512 x 512 minimum

Set up Reader Revenue Manager

Before you set up Reader Revenue Manager, you must add a publication in Publisher Centre. Learn how to set up your publication.

After you add your publication:

Go to Publisher Centre.
Select the publication.
Click Reader Revenue Manager.
Select a content access prompt.

Tip: To add more than one content access prompt, first select one of the options. You can add the other prompts later. After your selection, proceed with the one-time instructions in Publisher Centre.

Get set up to receive payments

To receive payments from Reader Revenue Manager, you must create or add a payments profile to your Publisher Centre account. Learn how to manage your payments profile.

Important: After setup is complete, make sure to add your bank account details to your payments profile. Without your bank account info, you can't receive payments from Google.

To add bank details:

Under 'More options', click Go to your bank details.
Select How you get paid.
Complete the required fields.
Click Save.

Use Reader Revenue Manager for nonprofit organisation

If you’re a nonprofit publication, you can use Reader Revenue Manager to connect with your readers and encourage support for your mission.

Declare your nonprofit status

Important: To ensure compliance with donation regulations, calls to action (CTAs) for 'Subscriptions' and 'Contributions' are disabled in a nonprofit organisation’s Reader Revenue Manager interface. Instead, you can drive readers to your existing donation platforms with Custom CTAs.

To begin, you must first add your publication in the Publisher Centre. In the Reader Revenue Manager onboarding process, you’ll be asked to self-declare your organisation's status.

In Publisher Centre, select your publication Reader Revenue Manager.
During the setup flow, in the Terms of Service step, you’re prompted to identify your organisation as either 'For-Profit' or 'Nonprofit'. This self-certification is a required step.
Select nonprofit.

The Reader Revenue Manager is a global product, currently available in over 40 countries. While most of these countries support full monetisation, some countries currently support non-monetisation features only.
