Personalize your news settings

You can set up Google News to show the topics you want to see and give you news based on where you are.

Choose which news topics you see

You can change which sections show up and the order you see them in. "Top stories" cannot be reordered or removed.

  1. Open the News & Weather app Google News.
  2. From the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Headline sections.
  3. To add a section, tap Add Add.
    To remove a section, tap Remove Delete.
  4. Tap OK.

See news for a different country & language

You can see news about a specific place by changing your country and language.

  1. Open the News & Weather app Google News.
  2. From the top left, tap Menu Menu  and then Country & language.
  3. Choose a country and language.
  4. Tap OK.

Read news suggested for you

  1. Sign in to the News & Weather app Google News.
  2. From the bottom, tap For you. To change what suggestions you are made, tap the thumbs up or thumbs down.

You may see suggestions based on your Google Web & App Activity and YouTube activity. That includes topics you’ve searched for, pages you selected from the search results page, and topics you’ve asked to get updates on from your feed on the Google app.

Add or remove local sections

You can see local news for more than one location.

  1. Open the News & Weather app Google News.
  2. From the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Local sections.
  3. Tap Add Add.
  4. Enter a city or a postal code.
  5. Tap OK.
