Retrieve dynamic tags

If your network host has created dynamic tags, it's easy to retrieve and insert them directly into the HTML of a webpage to begin displaying ads. When using dynamic tags, you need to add a header tag and a tag for each ad slot on a page. Make sure that you copy the code exactly for each tag.

To pick up ad tags for a site:

  1. Click Sites on the Home tab.

  2. Click the name of the site whose tags you want to retrieve. The site detail page opens.

  3. Under Inventory structure, click the Get tags button for the content area where you want to insert your tags (e.g. Blogs > Baseball). The Tag pickup window opens, containing a header tag and tags for each ad slot for the page.

  4. Copy all HTML within the Header field (section 1) and paste it in the header section of the webpage (between the <head> and </head> tags), as close as possible to the top of the page's code (it must come before the first ad slot).

    Example
    <!--This should appear in your <head></head> tag -->
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.googletagservices.com/tag/static/google_services.js">
    </script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    googletag.networkAds().set('network_config_path', 'sports_blog');
    googletag.enableServices();
    </script>
  5. Copy the HTML for each individual ad tag (section 2) and paste it into the location of the HTML corresponding to where you want the ad to appear.

    Example
    <!-- At location of the first ad -->
    <script type="text/javascript">
    googletag.networkAds().display('/Blogs/Leaderboard 468x60', [[468,60]]);
    </script>

    Using dynamic tags with third-party ad servers is not recommended at this time.
