Transferring the ownership of assets

Asset transfer means transferring complete ownership of titles from studio to another. There are typically 2 scenarios for needing to transfer assets between studios:

  • You are now the owner of existing content previously owned by another studio; or

  • You have acquired another studio or gained rights to a set of titles already on Google.
     

Before you begin:

Please ensure that Google are made aware of the Ownership Transfer before any action is taken. If you have questions, contact playsupport-moviestv@google.com.

 

We are not yet supporting TV ownership transfers.

 How to transfer content ownership

Studio gaining  assets
  1. Confirm the agreement for asset transfer. Please work with us to establish timeframes for the Transfer of Ownership and wait until this has been confirmed before submitting your avail. 

  2. Once timeframes are confirmed, please submit an avail listing all Titles included in the asset request.

    1. Note: It is preferable for you to send the avail directly to Google in these cases, rather than the standard uploading process.

  3. Be sure that the ServiceProvider column lists 'Ownership Transfer' so the PPH doesn't get an order request for delivery.

Without an avail, the assets cannot be transferred over to the new owner.
Studio losing  assets
  1. Confirm the agreement for asset transfer. Where possible, please provide the ALID for each asset to be transferred.
A takedown avail does not need to be submitted by the current owner.
