About this column
Partners who provide EIDR IDs in their avails (at least EIDR-2 in the “EditID” column) are able to make free use of the AltID column. If EIDR IDs are not provided, it's important that AltIDs must be unique to a title's edit.Example: Theatrical and Unrated edits of a given title should have separate, unique IDs in the AltID column. This helps ensure that a clear association exists between the unique ID and the intended edit of the title.
AltIDs can consist of letters, numbers, or a combination of both. They must be in string format and cannot contain any spaces or special characters (&*"<>:;#@, etc.).
Example: “FIRSTDANCE_10112” is formatted properly.
Additional Google requirements
It's important to confirm AltIDs are accurate and unique before sending an avail. AltIDs should never change for that version. Once Google receives an AltID, it will be used as the unique AltID going forward.Best practices
- Include an AltID every time a title is on an avail.
- AltIDs do not need to be specific to territory or dubbed/subbed versions.
- AltIDs must be unique to the version of the title. An extended title will require a different AltID than a theatrical version.
- AltIDs but be between 1 and 64 characters for the avail to successfully validate
Common mistakes
- Using a space in the ID (e.g., “FIRSTDANCE 10112” ).
- If AltIDs start with “0”, ensure that none of the information within the excel document are corrupted before providing the avail.
