Specifications for artwork studio partners deliver to Google for Movies and TV content
The below article applies to TVOD content on YouTube and Google TV.
Artwork on Google TV is displayed in a 16x9 format and can be delivered to Google or sourced from 3rd party metadata providers

A single poster image file is required when delivering movies. Follow the guidelines below for acceptable files:

Movie posters should not contain:

  • Borders or padding. The image must bleed to the edge.
  • DVD or Blu-ray logos.
  • Call-to-action language

We do accept OV artwork (original artwork in foreign language) but we require a localized title in the metadata.  That means the translated title should be provided in brackets.

Example of a title in the US store:

  • Original artwork in Spanish
  • Spanish OV title [English title] in the metadata

The OV artwork should be properly tagged with the correct foreign language in MMC, and the MEC should indicate that the artwork is OV (Original Language).

  Movie artwork minimum of 1000X1440

Illustration specifying movie artwork minimum dimensions: 1000 pixels wide, 1440 pixels high

Additionally, Google TV will now be requesting 16:9 artwork (movie banners) for Features. This is to support the growing number of GTV users who are watching content on televisions. This will ensure that the titles look their best on GTV surfaces, regardless of the screen size.

Fixing / Replacing a Trailer Thumbnail that needs to be changed:

PPH Steps

  1. Redeliver the MMC and MEC with reference to the new thumbnail

       a) Update the MMC

       b) Update the MEC

       c) Image Thumbnail needs to have an Aspect Ratio 16:9
