Overview
Avails will specify prices at which content will be sold to Google - usually in the form of specified wholesale prices (WSP), or deemed minimum retail prices (DMRP). These prices need to be agreed in advance, usually by contract, between a studio and Google.
Pricing Tiers
Usually, individual prices are negotiated and agreed to in deals for a particular combination of Territory, Content Type (Movie, TV Episodes, TV Seasons, or Bundles), License Type (EST or VOD), and Quality (SD, HD or UHD). These individual prices are labelled and set up as 'tiers' in the Google system. These tiers are then referred to in an avail submitted by a studio.
Tiers are usually agreed via contracts, and/or in line with the terms specified in the contract (i.e. if the contract specifies tiers can be agreed to over email, email agreement between Google and the studio would suffice to set up a new tier).
Revenue Models
There are three revenue models under which tiers can be set up:
- WHOLESALE: A 'WHOLESALE"-type tier represents a WSP agreed between Google and the studio at which content can be availed. EST content is usually sold using this type of tier.
- DMRP: A 'DMRP'-type tier represents a DMRP and Revshare at which content can be availed. VOD content is usually sold using this type of tier.
- FLAT REVSHARE: A 'FLAT REVSHARE'-type tier represents the revshare at which content can be availed. TV Season content is usually sold using this type of tier.
Referencing tiers in Avails
The studio can decide whether to use labels, WSP or DMRPs when submitting avails.
- For WHOLESALE tiers, the pre-agreed tier label, or WSP, can be used in the avail to refer to a tier.
- For DMRP tiers, the pre-agreed tier label or DMRP can be used in the avail to refer to a tier.
- For FLAT REVSHARE tiers, the WSP or DMRP can be used in the avail to set the appropriate price point.
Any avail seeking to use a price point not already agreed to, and therefore configured in our system, will be rejected.
