0
Cleared Carrier services, message data - both multiple times.  Moto G7 Power.  It WAS working but now won't connect.  I had to turn it off for a while and when re-enabling it now it won't - been trying for weeks.  called my carrier (xfinity) and they said it's a google problem.  Can't call google for a fix!!  Can someone please help?  phone is great - just the messaging ap won't allow chat

Just turn off Chat Settings in Google Messages and wait 8 days, then turn it back on. It should work then!

8 days is the length of time Google's system is set up to wait for before assuming a person's phone number is no longer in use.

I had the same issue and NOTHING else worked for me EXCEPT THIS!

Try using this form first though to fix it. It DIDN'T work for me, but might for you. Worth a shot, and beats waiting 8 days. 🙄 lol

Good luck! Lemme know if it worked.

I tried this only 7 days without results... Do I have to wait another 8 days?😂

It's a shame this process....

Waiting eight days worked for me. I encountered the same issue as the original poster. I'm using an unlocked Pixel 5. I was originally on Fi then transferred to Mint. I didn't know I was supposed to disable RCS before the transfer. After the transfer, RCS was stuck on verifying. Hours of Googling and trying every order of clearing cache and storage and uninstalling / reinstalling updates didn't help. So, I disabled RCS then waited eight days. I re-enabled RCS then RCS was able to verify my number successfully.

TL;DR: if you've transferred your number to a new provider, and RCS is stuck on verifying your number after the transfer, wait eight days. RCS should be able to verify your number after eight days.

I believe it means you have to leave it off for 8 full consecutive days. It reads like you've been turning it back on to check. This would reset the counter.

To be sure I'd not count the day you turned it off as Day 1 and I'd also turn it back on after Day 8. Otherwise you can't be sure it's 8 full days.

It worked! By golly. Turned it off for 8 days set a reminder and turned it back on and started right up. Not even Google could help me on this one. Whoever figured this out is genius!

This still isn't working for me.:(

I left it off for 8 full days (strictly 10 if we include a day either side). Made no difference.

I use WhatsApp mostly luckily but if Samsung and Google aren't get their own Chat service working they can't going to get much uptake.

I've given up for now and have uninstalled Google Messages. I installed it to get Scheduled Messaging, which isn't available in The UK yet :(.
